Comment réaliser votre pixel art en mosaïque ?
Our Pixel Art Kit contains all the materials needed to create a unique piece of art with mosaic glass tiles and do not require any special DIY or art skills.
The final piece can be attached to a variety of flat surfaces (indoors and outdoors) or simply be placed on your furniture.
Follow the steps to easily create your pixel art, your space invader and even your own artwork using our pack of tiles!
Choose a flat and smooth surface to work on. Opt for a board, a book, or a cardboard so that you can move and flip your piece during its creation.
Place the back of the leaflet you find inside the Pixel Art Kit onto your surface. It will be used as a guide to maintain alignment of your tiles (vertical and horizontal).
Place on top a sheet of cellophane and then place the fiber grid on top of it (the cellophane should be larger than the grid).
Before starting, visually center your piece by using tiles as reference points on the sides
Start with a long line of tiles, using a ruler to perfectly align this first line.
Apply a dot of glue to the back of the first mosaic tile and stick it to the grid.
Warning! Tiles have 2 sides: a smooth one and a rough one. The smooth side is the visible part, the glue should therefore be applied on the rough side.
Progress tile by tile and line by line, following the pattern provided in your kit (or find it on our website). You can realign your tiles at the end of each line (as long as the glue has not dried) to achieve the best possible result.
Wait for 12 hours until the tiles cannot be moved anymore. .
Flip then your piece by sandwiching it between 2 boards (or books) in order to remove the plastic film at the back.
During this step, if you feel it is necessary or if you prefer to, you can reinforce your piece by adding extra glue on the back. In this case, to ensure a better result, avoid applying too much pressure when adding the glue to prevent excess from seeing into the joints.
Instead, opt for a more delicate method and add glue point by point with a spatula or a small piece of cardboard. Wait a few more hours for the glue to fully dry.
Once the glue is completely dry, use a cutter or a sharp pair of scissors to trim the excess grid along the edges.
And There you go! Bravo, you've made an amazing piece of art in mosaic. Time to hang on your walls!
Simply use adhesive putty (between 4 to 8 attachment points per piece). You can then move it according to your desires. It is also possible to place it on a piece of furniture, a fireplace, frame it, or permanently fix it to your walls.
For outdoor attachment, use a mastic-type adhesive or tile mortar.
Now just sit back, relax and admire :-) And don't forget to send us a picture of your art. We love to hear from you!
- Attention! For a better result, try to keep your tile lines as straight and aligned as possible. You can leave small gaps between the tiles; they will be less visible once the piece is completed.
- Does your piece have a lot of excess glue? No worries, wait for complete drying it will be easier to remove with ayou can clean it with a damp sponge and scrape off excess glue from the joints using a small blade.
