🎮 Artist Spotlight: MEGAMATT

🎮 Zoom sur Artiste : MEGAMATT - Pixel Corner

⚡ A cult artist in urban pixel art

At Pixel Corner, MEGAMATT is clearly one of our favorite mosaic artists. His universe is immediately recognizable: minimalist, ultra creative, deeply marked by retro gaming, and always in motion.

For years, the French artist has been transforming streets into life-sized video game levels with his mosaics inspired by Flashback, a cult game from the 90s. His favorite character, Conrad B. Hart, appears everywhere: running, falling, climbing, or simply silently traversing city walls.

But reducing MEGAMATT to a simple retro reference would be a mistake. What makes his work so powerful is especially his ability to play with locations, perspectives, and urban space. Each pose seems to have been specifically designed for the spot where it is installed.

His work constantly oscillates between video game nostalgia, contemporary street art, and minimalist poetry. A few tiles are enough to tell an entire scene.

And among all his creations, it's impossible not to mention a work that has become almost legendary in the streets of Paris: the mosaic depicting Cammy and Chun-Li from Street Fighter kissing on Rue Tiquetonne.

This piece is probably one of the most iconic works of urban pixel art in Paris in recent years. Both funny, touching, unexpected, and instantly cult for an entire generation of gamers.

This is exactly what we love about MEGAMATT: his ability to transform a simple wall into a collective memory.

If you like pixel art, retro gaming, street art, or simply artists who have a truly personal universe, we highly recommend following his work.
